For radio: how to listen and download

Received a CD TEX release email? Its listening and download buttons take you straight to that release. You do not need the radio-library password to use those release links.

  1. Listen first.Choose Preview where it is available. On the release listening page, press Play to listen on that page. Some recordings do not have a public preview.
  2. Save the audio.Choose MP3 for the smaller file or WAV for the uncompressed file. Use the format your station needs. If your browser plays the file instead of saving it, use its download button or right-click the download link and choose Save Link As (the wording varies by browser).
  3. Find the saved file.Check your computer’s Downloads folder unless you chose another location. Wait for the download to finish, then check the full song before adding it to your station’s system.

Looking for other releases? Existing radio and music-industry subscribers can use their CD TEX password to enter the full library. Radio-show affiliates use a separate login for show audio and cue sheets.

What goes into a release

A release brings together the recording, cover art, a promotional banner, song credits, your description, public contact details, and the links you want to share. That information helps recipients listen, learn about you, and find the right files.

Music distribution through CD TEX is a radio and industry delivery service. Links to Spotify, Apple Music, or other platforms point to your existing release on those services.

The recording

Your final master means the finished audio file you want radio to hear. Make sure its title, songwriter details, length and recording ID (ISRC) all describe that same version.

Your presentation

Cover art, a banner, and your own description give recipients a clear first look. Your description is used exactly as submitted; editing and proofreading are not included.

From your song to a finished delivery

  1. Gather your materials.Use the guided form to organize the recording, artwork, credits, and links. You can save your unfinished form and return using the same browser and device.
  2. Review the details.Check the artist-facing release preview, then correct missing information or mark a question for help.
  3. Work with the CD TEX team. The team reviews your submission and confirms the work, price, and timing. After approval, we send an invoice to your billing email. Payment is required before delivery. Submitting a song does not automatically publish it.
  4. Introduce the release. The finished delivery combines the song information and links recipients need. Stations make their own programming decisions.

Help before you hit a roadblock

Artists, promoters and labels are welcome. If you do not know a writer’s PRO (such as BMI), the publisher name, the recording’s ISRC code, or which files to use, the form explains each one. You can also email CD TEX if you have no producer or team to ask.

Public listening previews depend on the recording’s rights and affiliations. Download availability and preview availability are separate; the team reviews which options apply to each release.

Mailings and tracking

Two mailings are included: the initial delivery and one complimentary repeat during the life of the single. Contact CD TEX to request the repeat, ideally at least a week ahead, with a short, accurate update for the headline.

Optional weekly radio-airplay reports are available with your single: 4 reports for $50, 8 for $90, or 12 for $120. CD TEX confirms the recording and reporting start date. Reports show detected plays and weekly changes; they do not guarantee airplay. Downloads, airplay and chart positions are different measures.
